New Banda District Chief Executive assumes duty

Mr Jacob Boateng, a former assembly member for Dorbor electoral area, was on Friday sworn in as the Banda District Chief Executive (DCE).

He was overwhelmingly confirmed by the Banda District Assembly few weeks ago, following the dismissal of Mr Alex Bonsu.

Mr Eric Opoku, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, who administered the oaths of official, allegiance and secrecy advised the new DCE against the ‘get rich quick scheme’ adopted by some Chief Executives.

He said the local people could benefit more from the second phase of the better Ghana agenda and renew the mandate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), if the Municipal and District Chief Executives spearheaded development in their districts and municipalities.

Mr Opoku said the government would not entertain any form of corruption within the Municipal and District Assemblies and urged Mr Boateng to find alternative ways of generating funds locally to facilitate development.

He appealed to the assembly members to bury their partisan interests, cooperate and support the DCE for the socio-economic development of the communities.

Mr Boateng, an accountant, thanked the President and the assembly members for the confidence they had reposed in him, and pledged to work in collaboration with the various departmental heads.
