National Theatre launches website

The National Theatre of Ghana has launched a website to inform the public about its programmes and services.

The website: www.nationaltheatreghana.com, would enable the public to access information on the theatre’s services, facilities, objectives, resident groups, pricing, and calendar of upcoming programmes, and an opportunity to interact with the theatre on issues of interest.

Nana Oduro Kwarteng, the Chief Director of Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, who launched the website on behalf of the sector Minister, said it was necessary to initiate such a project because Arts and Culture served as a foundation for a nation’s socio-economic development.

“We must prioritise our Arts and Culture and use it to the development of our economy,” he said.

He stated that though globalisation had made it difficult for the nation to adopt and appreciate its own culture, it was still relevant to regard the importance of the local culture and arts.

He, therefore, urged Ghanaians to be proud of their culture and practices.

Nana Kwarteng urged the operators of the website to make it accessible to the ordinary Ghanaian to enable them to appreciate the local culture.

Mrs Amy Appiah Frimpong, the acting Executive Director of National Theatre, said plans were put in place to develop the website a year ago.

“We decided to take advantage of the global contemporary technology to offer the public our services, and it is our hope that it becomes useful to them,” she said.

Mrs Frimpong asked the public to visit the website to access their products and services.
