Tamale, Jan. 28, GNA - The Nanumba North District Security Committee (DISEC) has started organising peace talks in Nanumba and Konkomba communities to appeal to the people to remain calm and stop moving away from their communities because of the insecurity situation in the district.
Mr. Salifu Saeed, Nanumba North District Chief Executive in an interview with the GNA, said at one of such peace talks at Bincheratanga, the DISEC appealed to Nanumbas and Konkombas not to do anything to jeopardise the prevailing peace in the area.
He said some people in the communities has started evacuating their belongings, including farm produce from the area for fear of a possible out-break f a conflict between the Nanumbas and Konkombas. He said DISEC mission of organising such talks was to assure the people of their safety and the protection of their belongings to give them a "sigh of relief" to enable them to go about their businesses without fear or intimidation.

He pointed out that ensuring durable peace should be the concern of all and appealed to politicians to stay away and allow the leaders of the two ethnic groups to address their concerns amicably.
