NYEP registers 555 youth in Asante-Akim South

Juaso (Ash), Jan 17, GNA - The National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) in the Asante-Akim South District has received 555 applications barely one year after the programme took off in the district.

Out of the number, 281 have been recruited under the various modules with the exception of the Youth in Agriculture module that is expected to begin this farming season.

Mr Ebenezer Bredu, the District Co-coordinator of the programme, told the Ghana News Agency at Juaso that the unavailability of land was a major challenge hindering the Youth in Agriculture module from taking off.

He said he was optimistic that the module would commence this forthcoming farming season and urged landowners to release them for the benefit of the unemployed youth.

In a related development, 76 newly recruited community teaching assistants were issued their appointment letters at a ceremony at Juaso on Monday.

Dr Lord Justice Gyamfi-Fenteng, the District Chief Executive, urged them to upgrade themselves by pursuing further academic laurels.
