Social Launch Initiative Project to promote patriotism launched

Obuasi, March 8, GNA - A project aimed at promoting a high sense o= f nationalism among the citizenry has been launched at Obuasi. Dubbed: "Proud to be Ghanaian Initiative", seeks to inject the spi= rit of patriotism among Ghanaians, especially the youth. It is also designed to educate people on positive values that woul= d help them to avoid attitudes that adversely affect the development of the=

country. Mr Clarence Ankomah, who is promoting the initiative, told newsmen= at Obuasi after the launch that patriotism was crucial to the nation's socio-economic progress. He said it was important for Ghanaians to exhibit a sense of dedication and commitment wherever they found themselves and to also appreciate and practice morality.

"Our goal is to develop positive educative concepts to promote and=

boost the morale of the citizens both in and outside the country so as to=

unite us for accelerated growth and development", he said. He said a vigorous campaign would be undertaken to encourage the people to support economic growth through tourism, trade, education and t= he patronage of made-in-Ghana goods. "The Proud to be Ghanaian Initiative, is working hard to spread th= e word throughout the country for people to realize what they can do to hel= p build Ghana to an acceptable status", Mr Ankomah said. He said a number of activities including clean-up exercises, drama= , distribution of Ghana flags to schools and cultural displays had been lin= ed up to help rekindle the patriotic "instincts" in Ghanaians. 8 March 10
