NPP will win in Northern Region- says Botwe

Tamale, Feb.25, GNA- Those who hold on to the view that the Northern Region is a "no go area" for the NPP are deceiving themselves, Mr Dan Botwe, General Secretary of the party declared at a strategic capacity building workshop in Tamale on Wednesday.

He said the NPP had identified the Northern, Upper East, Upper West and Volta Regions as the main target regions, which were crucial for the party to win the December elections.

He said the NPP was therefore going all out to win in those areas, especially in the Northern Region, adding, " nothing is going to impede our efforts".

Mr Botwe who was addressing the Northern Regional constituency executives of the NPP, urged them to work hard to complement the good development programmes that the government was undertaking in the regions to enable the party to win the December polls. He assured them that the party would motivate and equip them to ensure victory for the party in this year's Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

The General Secretary announced that the NPP would train 100,000 foot soldiers between June and July this year in the dissemination of the policies and programmes of the government to enable the electorate to make an informed choice during the elections.

Mr Ernest Debrah, Northern Regional Minister urged the executives to ensure an NPP victory in both the region and the general election. He said the NPP was capable of governing better than all the other political parties and called on the members of the party to market the good policies of the government to enable the electorate to make a better choice.

Mr Debrah asked NPP supporters to identify all the weaknesses in the party in the region and address them, saying, "don't be complacent even though we are in a better position to win the elections than any of the political parties."

He urged the supporters to comport themselves and avoid acts of violence to win more supporters to the party.

In a welcoming address, the Regional Chairman of the party, Alhaji Salifu Abdul-Rahman called for unity and hard work among the members to ensure victory at the December polls.
