NPP Youth Wing donates blood to Tepa District Hospital

Tepa (Ash), June 24 GNA - Dr Issac Akumoah Boateng, the Medical Superintendent in-charge of Tepa District Hospital, has appealed to Ghanaians especially the youth to make blood donation as part of their moral duties to save lives.

Speaking during a blood donation to the hospital by supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Youth Wing at Tepa, Dr Boateng observed that anaemia is one of the major health-related problems in the Ahafo-Ano North District.

Mr John Kweku Provinseh, the Senior Technical Officer in charge of the hospital laboratory said, due to lack of personnel and logistics, the hospital managed to screened only 20 people, with six qualifying to donate six pints of blood.

He said because of high-risk lifestyle, the donors were screened to check their haemoglobin levels, anaemic conditions, HIV/AIDS status, Hepatitis B & C, syphilis and sickle cell diseases.

Mr Fred Amfo, Chairman of the Youth Wing, assured the hospital authorities of their readiness to co-operate with them and make blood donation to the hospital periodically.
