NHIS seminar at Mankranso

Mankranso (Ash), Nov 17, GNA - The Ahafo-Ano South District Assembly at the weekend held a one-day seminar on the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to evaluate the sensitisation programme on the scheme in rural communities.
The 50 participants were made up of area council members, assembly and unit committee members from Pokukrom, Abesewa, Adugyama, Kunsu, Mpasaso, Wioso, Sabronum, Domeabra, Asuodei and Mankranso.
The officials discussed reports from the various communities, which focused on problems they encountered and planning and made recommendations for the effective implementation of the scheme in the district. Mr Isaac Lartey, the District Co-ordinator of the programme, requested participants to work according the objectives of the scheme to enable them to provide accurate information on the scheme.
He reminded them of their target of covering about 92 percent of the 147,000 people in the 160 communities in the district before the final monitoring of work by the technical committee team in December. Mr Lartey asked them to be committed to the task despite the problems they way facing such as the lack of transport, chieftaincy disputes, and apathy among some of the people.
He advised the chiefs and people not to politicise the programme since it was aimed at promoting health in the area.
