NHIS managers in VR disassociates themselves from pressure group

Ho, July 6, GNA - District Managers of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in the Volta Region have disassociated themselves from publications against the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) and its Chief Executive Officer.

A group reportedly called for the dissolution of the NHIA and the removal of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the NHIA.

In a Press Release which they all signed, the District Managers said they did not know the said pressure group and what it stood for and therefore it could not represent them.

They said the claims and demands of the group were completely misplaced and mischievous.

The Managers said it was an incontrovertible fact that despite some obvious challenges, a lot of good things had happened and were still happening to the NHIS within the two year old administration of Mr Sylvester Mensah as the Chief Executive Officer.

They said it was during the last two years that the NHIS created a Human Resource (HR) Unit bringing order into the HR issues and witnessed improved and faster transfer of funds to schemes for prompt payment to service providers.

On the issue of the NHIA intents of reducing salaries of staff, the managers said it was an effort to correct the abnormal and disparities in salaries and allowances of workers.

They therefore declared their unflinching support for the CEO and commended the NHIA Council under the leadership of Doe Adjah for "providing vision and direction to achieve objectives of the Scheme."
