NGO trains youth in soap ptroduction

Techiman (B/A) Dec. 7, GNA - The Ahenbronoso Care Foundation, an NGO operating in Techiman Municipality in Brong Ahafo, has begun a three-week training programme for 35 youth of 10 males and 25 females in soap production at Techiman. The programme, funded by Global Ghana is aimed at equipping the participants with requisite skills in soap production as an income generating venture towards poverty reduction among the youth.

Mr. Davis Boamah-Asumadu, Executive Director of the Foundation said participants were expected to gain the understanding of engaging in viable economic activities. He urged the youth to take the training seriously to derive maximum benefits and also to impart the knowledge they would acquire to others. Mr. Boamah-Asumadu advised the youth to avoid illicit casual sexual escapades, saying their behavioural change for the better would help combat the alarming increasing rate of HIV/AIDS. Miss Mavis Ama-Yeboaa, Project Co-ordinator of the programme, asked the participants to get involved in the programme for their progress in life, adding that individuals would be assisted after the training to set up their own income-generating ventures.

Madam Afia Donkor, a facilitator in soap training, asked the participants not to underrate soap making as a small-scale business venture but as a business-oriented employment avenue for the jobless youth and others.
