NGO supports an orphanage

Accra, June 4, GNA - Students Bridging the Information Gap (SBIG), a US-based NGO, has supported the completion of a computer laboratory and library for Good Shepherd Orphanage at Kasoa in the Central Region. A press statement signed in Accra by Mr Brooke Nuwati, Media Relations Officer, stated that the Orphanage would receive 18 desktop computers, a laptop computer, a laser printer, an LCD projector, a battery pack and invertors, furniture and basic computer ICT training from the NGO.

SBIG also supported the finishing and preparation of the computer learning lab room with wiring, flooring, painting, windows and doors, security bars, electrical upgrading and internet installation for the Orphanage.

The statement said the NGO would provide the Orphanage's school library with books to help the orphans and other children build on their knowledge through reading. "SBIG believes the world is in an ICT age and, in order to prosper in the increasingly technology driven economy, every child should be given the opportunity to learn and develop his skills in the new field." SBIG is an organization that harnesses the humanitarian interests of students, corporate and faith-based partners and other civic groups to support fellow students in less-developed countries.
