NGO supports West Gonja District with equipment

Resiliency in Northern Ghana (RING) an NGO has supported some departments in the West Gonja District with items to facilitate the implementation of its activities in the district.

The equipment include a Nissan Pickup, three laptop computers, eight motorbikes, 13 pen-drives, six bicycles, six fridges and six Uninterrupted Power Service .

The departments include the Food and Agriculture, Health, Environmental Health unit and the Business Advisory Centre, under the Rural Enterprise Project.

Mr Ali Bakari Kassim, District Chief Executive who presented the equipment to the beneficiaries on behalf of RING in Damongo, expressed the need for teamwork to execute RING projects effectively.

He said the RING Project has three components in the areas of agriculture and livelihood, health, nutrition and sanitation and good governance, which are meant to improve conditions of rural communities.

He commended RING for its enormous contribution towards fighting poverty, malnutrition and disease in the Northern Region.

Mr Kassim gave the assurance that the district would continue to partner development partners to improve the lives of people.

He advised the beneficiaries to use the equipment strictly to improve programmes at the CHPS compounds to achieve the desired results.

Mr Kingsley Dubik, District Nutrition Officer, who received the equipment said it would be used judiciously especially for their intended purpose to achieve results.

RING focuses particularly on women of reproductive age and children under five years while building capacities of local government agencies to provide the needed services to the targeted families.

RING works closely with government officials, strengthening relationships and advancing joint interests and it is being by the United States Agency for International Development.
