NGO organizes women's forum at Akim Oda

Akim Oda (E/R), Jan. 4, GNA - The Young and Lonely Foundation, Ghana (YLF), a non-governmental organization (NGO) has organized a forum to set out critical issues of concern to women and children in the country. YLF has also put in place innovative new campaigns and affirmative action towards the eradication of such issues by addressing the problems of insecurity and other forms of violence expressed by women in times of conflict. Mr Gilbert Kofi Germain, Executive Director of the Agona Swedru-based YLF, was outlining the organisation's development agenda for 2011 during a public forum at Akim Oda in the Birim Central Municipality. Mr German hinted that human trafficking by the use of threat, force or other forms of coercion amounted to prohibition and offences relating to trafficking.

He remarked, 93We need to find innovative ways of sharing our experti= se, so that people living in deprived areas and also the vulnerable groups including women and children, will benefit from our services at no extra cost." He added that as the country was gaining the reputation as a safer investment destination with a stable macro-economy, NGOs should arrange their services such that no one was denied any service for any reason at all. Mr Germain said YLF was very critical and responsive to the vulnerable groups during the year 2010, saying that under all circumstances his organization would be seen to be focused on the needs of the vulnerable in 2011.
