NADMO donates relief items to Tema flood victims

Tema, June 15, GNA - The Tema Metropolitan Office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), has donated relief items worth GH¢38,000 to victims of a recent flood that hit Tema Manhean.

The items included 200 roofing sheets, 14 bales of used clothings, 10 bags of beans and 20 bags of maize.

The affected areas included Anglican Pre-School, Bankuman SDA Basic School, New Page School and Manhean Community Primary School whose roofs were ripped off during the rainstorm.

Hajia Zinabu Abdulai, Tema Metropolitan Coordinator of NADMO presenting the items, advised residents to be maintenance conscious as well as plant trees to serve as windbreaks.

Hajai Abdulai cautioned the public against dumping of refuse into drains and building on waterways as that could be a contributing factor to flooding.

Nii Adjei Kraku II, Tema Mantse, received the items on behalf of the victims, thanked NADMO for the swift response and called on other cooperate organizations and individuals to assist the victims. Nii Kraku appealed to the residents to adhere to the safety and environmental education given them by NADMO.
