Mother dumps newborn baby in uncompleted building in Buokrom

A newborn baby who was deserted by its mother minutes after its birth in an uncompleted building has been discovered by residents at Truba, a suburb of Buokrom in the Ashanti Region.

Blood stains on the floor and the umbilical cord still attached to the baby at the time of rescue suggest that the baby was birthed in the same building after which the mother bolted, leaving the baby to its fate.
Cries from the baby attracted an occupant of the house and five other women who rescued the baby after which it was rushed to a nearby hospital.

After being examined by health personnel at the hospital, the case was reported to the Zongo Police Station and subsequently, the baby transferred to an orphanage in the community.

Meanwhile, the mother of the baby is still on the run
