Moree Market receives phase lift

The Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District Assembly has spent GH¢68,400 to renovate the main market at Moree to make it conducive for trading activities.

Mr William Atta-Mends, District Chief Executive, on Wednesday inaugurated the project which now has 30 stalls, 10 stores, an open space, toilet facilities and security gates.

He said the deplorable state of the market was a health threat to the traders and buyers, hence the decision of the Assembly to renovate it.

Mr Atta-Mends, urged the women to pay their tolls promptly and regularly to enable the Assembly expand the market to accommodate more traders and provide other facilities that would make their trading activities comfortable.

The Market Queen of Moree, Madam Ekua Adadzewa, expressed gratitude to the Assembly for the facilities, recalling the deplorable conditions of the market.

Madam Adadzewa said, the traders were at the mercy of thieves, which rendered them poor.

She however, petitioned the Assembly to provide the market with water and electricity.**
