Monte- Cristo Foundation donates to Weija Leprosarium, Korle Bu

The Monte-Cristo Foundation – a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) committed to help alleviate hunger and improve the wellbeing of the under-privileged has donated items and cash worth GHS7,000.00 each to the Weija Leprosarium and the children’s ward of the Korle Bu Teaching hospital in Accra.

The donations are in line with the foundation’s goal to impact positively and improve lives and build stronger communities across the country.

The foundation hopes that these donations and many more to follow will aid such outfits cater for the needs of the needy among them.

The first donation was made to the Weija Leprosarium on the 29th of June, 2013 by the Vice President of the Foundation, Mr David Anim. He handed over items worth GHS 2,000 and a cash of GHS5,000.00 to leprosarium.

Receiving the items, Caretaker of the Leprosarium, Mr Quansah, thanked the group and urged other corporate agencies and well-to-do individuals, to emulate the gesture.

He said: “We thank Monte-Cristo Foundation for the kind gesture, and I am seizing this opportunity to call on other agencies to follow suit and come to our aide”.

The foundation also on Ghana’s Republic Day 1st of July, 2013 marked the day with a donation to the Korle Bu children’s ward.

The foundation members were met on arrival at the children’s ward by two Principal Nursing Officers.

The group explained the need to support the children’s ward to cater for the needs of babies and children present, especially those of the needy ones. This led the members to embark on this donation.

The group then presented their donation at the office of the Principal Nursing Officer, Sister Elizabeth Neequaye.

She was presented with various items for children worth GHS2,000.00 which was followed with a cash donation of GHS5,000.00.

She expressed her appreciation for the good work Monte-Cristo Foundation was doing and thanked the foundation on behalf of the hospital and all the mothers and children present at the ward.

The group later visited each of the wards and gave items to the mothers and children present.

The mothers related their joy and surprise at what they saw and asked for God’s blessings for the foundation to grow and do more to help the needy.

The group before leaving exchanged pleasantries with the nurses on duty conveying profound gratitude to them for the good work they were carrying out.
