Mireku Duker secures scholarship for UMat students

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency in the Western Region, Mr. George Mireku Duker awarded Ghana Government Scholarship letters he has secured worth over GHc120,000.00 to 23 students of the University of Mines and Technology studying in various disciplines to further their education.

The beneficiaries include; Regular BSc, MSc & Fee Paying Students.

This unprecedented achievement forms part of the scholarship packages Mr. Mireku Duker secured from the Ghana Scholarships Secretariat when he hosted the Secretariat on March 22, 2018 at Tarkwa.

At the presentation, Mr. Duker reiterated his joy to see young ones pick up such opportunities to achieve their educational goals which in return will contribute massively towards nation building.

He once again reiterated on his quest to make education a greater priority within the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality achievable.

Apart from this package, the MP has given Hundreds of continuing SHS scholarships.

He has secured foreign scholarships for his constituents to further their education abroad.

Speaking to GhanaWeb's Western Regional Correspondent after the short ceremony held at the school premises on Thursday, June 18, 2018, some beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the kind gesture which in their words will go a long way to help them achieve their dreams as some were thinking to abandon their programs due to financial problems.

They asked God to bless the MP and pleaded with him to work hard for the Constituency and let other students also benefit.

"We thank the President of the Republic H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and The Ghana Scholarships Secretariat for the massive support shown our hardworking MP, Hon. George Mireku Duker", they added.
