Ministry donates rice to Muslim women

Accra, Oct.31, GNA - Hajia Alima Mahama, Minister of Women and Children's Affairs (MOWCA) on Monday, donated 100 bags of rice to the Federation of Muslim Women Association of Ghana (FOMWAG) and the Ahmadiya Muslim Women's Association (AMWA).

The donation is to help the women and their children celebrate the Eid-Ul Fitr festival of Muslems on Thursday to mark the end of their month-long religious fasting.

Hajia Mahama said: "This donation of 60 bags of rice for FOMWAG and 40 bags for the Ahmadiya Women is given in the spirit of collaboration that exist in my Ministry and the two women Associations." Dr Rabiatu Ammah, President of FOMWAG, who received the donation, thanked the Ministry for the honour to them as Muslim women. She said: "By this gesture, the Minister has shown that she really understands the meaning of Ramadan."

Hajia Rahmat Muslim, Vice President of AMWA, expressed appreciation, saying; "indeed this is the first time such a donation is being made in the history of Muslim women". She said the rice would be distributed to branches of the Association in the regions to enable each Ahmadiya Muslim woman have "at least a taste of it".
