Minister warns against encroachment of public lands

Wa, May 17, GNA - Mr Ambrose Dery, the Upper West Regional Minister, on Wednesday warned that the government would not spare developers who deliberately encroach on public lands.

"We on our side will continue with our infrastructure development without necessarily disturbing people sharing the same land with us in the region."

Mr Dery said this when he inspected some roads and culverts being constructed in the Wa Municipality.

He inspected the tarring and expansion projects on the Kpaguri/ Kpongo road, Kpongo/Tindamba road, Dobile/Charia road, Jangbeyiri road and the construction of Tindamba/ Kpaguri by-pass all in the Wa Municipality.

The Regional Minister expressed satisfaction at the quality of work going on in the municipality and commended engineers of Urban Roads and the Ghana Highways Authority for supervising the jobs on daily basis. Mr Dery said the infrastructure development all over the region was a testimony to the fact that the government would do everything possible to undertake more projects. Mr Michael Dzisi, the Urban Roads engineer at Wa, said 175 out of a total of 375 kilometres of roads in the Municipality were tarred.
