Minister of education presents items to orphanages

Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Minister of Education, on Saturday presented items worth 10,000 Ghana Cedis to the Father’s Home Care Ministry at Butumagyebu, and the Jesus is King (JIKO) Home for Orphans and Abandoned Children, at separate ceremonies near Takoradi.

The items included quantity of fruit drinks, biscuits, cooking oil, milo, toilet rolls, yam, sachet water and loaves of bread.

Prof Opoku-Agyemang said the donation was being made on behalf of the Ministry of Education, which usually made donations to the vulnerable during Christmas and Easter.

She commended managements of the Orphanages for the good work they were doing to bring up orphans and abandoned children to become good citizens.

The managements must ensure that children at their Orphanages take their studies serious to broaden their outlook, Prof Opoku-Agyemang said.

She advised the inmates to be obedient, keep the orphanages tidy, and observe personal hygiene.

Madam Rosemary Yamoah, Mother of Father’s Care Ministries, and Mr. Samuel Bangura, Founder of JIKO Home for Orphans and Abandoned Children, received the items on behalf of their respective institutions.

Mr Alfred Ekow Gyan, Deputy Western Regional Minister, Captain Anthony Cudjoe (rtd), Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive, and Mr Enoch Kojo Appiah, Shama District Chief Executive, were among dignitaries present at the ceremonies.
