Minister calls for better conditions for CEPS

Bolgatanga, Aug. 21, GNA- The Upper East Regional Minister, Mr Mahami Salifu, on Thursday called on the management of Customs, Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) to permit their personnel to use part of the revenue they collect to improve upon their living conditions. "The Personnel collect and handle a lot of money, yet, live under deplorable conditions with many of them finding it difficult to get descent accommodation," he said.

Mr Salifu said this when Deputy Commissioner of CEPS in charge of Administration, Mr Paul Aubofom, paid a courtesy call on him in Bolgatanga.

He urged the CEPS to consider employing personnel from communities where they could live and work without problems of accommodation. Mr Adubofom, who is on a working visit to the region, said better conditions of service for CEPS had been approved and that by the end of the year, new vehicles and communication gadgets would be distributed to them.

He commended the regional staff for meeting their revenue target for last year and urged them to continue to give of their best. 21 Aug. 03
