Mfantsipim Old Boys support Ankaful Leprosy Camp

The Central Regional Branch of the Mfantsipim Old Boys Association (MOBA) over the weekend donated assorted food items to the Enyinda Leprosy Camp near Ankaful in the Cape Coast Metropolis.

The items, worth GH¢ 2,000 comprised bags of rice, sugar and gari, cartons of milk, toiletries, mineral water, beverages and loaves of bread.

Presenting the items, the President of the branch, Dr. Kenneth Aikins, a Research Fellow at the Institute of Development Studies of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), said the gesture was part of the association’s bi- annual social responsbility project.

He stated that though Mfantsipim is the focus, the association is passionate about people outside the Mfantsipim community, who are underprivileged.

Mr John Quaison, Leader of the camp who received the items expressed gratitude to the association for extending a helping hand to the inmates even though they members have no link r with the school.

He appealed to other public-spirited individuals and organisation to support the camp in diverse ways to improve the condition of living of the inmates.

Mr Samuel Kwesi Nkansah, Secretary of the association and a lecturer at UCC, said the body has plans to visit orphanages in the region to support them.

He on old boys of the school to join members to support with the developmental projects in their alma mater.

Members of the association used the opportunity to socialise and sensitise the treated lepers.

The camp currently houses 51 treated lepers and their families.
