Mfantseman Council implores Ghanaians to remain calm

The Mfantseman Council Ashanti, has expressed shock at the demise of the late President John Evans Atta Mills and urged the citizenry to remain calm in this trying moments in the nation’s life.

It said the passing on of the late President had left many in a sorrowful state, however, it was incumbent on all and sundry to cheer up, unite and be resolute towards the nation’s development process.

A statement signed by Nana Akorful Owese, Head of the Fante Community in the Ashanti Region, copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Monday, pledged the Council’s full support and cooperation for newly sworn- in President John Dramani Mahama.

“As he takes up the leadership mantle, it is our hope that he offers a befitting farewell for the father of the nation”, the statement noted.

The statement conveyed the Council’s heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, particularly the former First Lady, Dr Mrs. Ernestina Naadu Mills, the National Democratic Congress and all those who in one way or the other had been deeply affected by the death of the late President.

The Council hoped the death of former President Mills would help foster unity and peace in the country to benefit the nation.**
