Methodist youth hold festival

Kintampo (B/A) Dec. 22, GNA - Mr. B.C.K. Botwe, administrator of the Methodist Hospital at Wenchi has urged the youth to avoid social vices so they could develop good morals and grow to become responsible citizens. Mr. Botwe, immediate past lay chairman of the Wenchi Methodist diocese, was addressing more than 150 youth of the church at an annual prayer festival at Kintampo. The theme for the festival was: "Touching the young people in the diocese through prayers". He expressed regret about the proliferation of churches in the country amidst increasing social vices among the people. "Unless the youth offer themselves to God and live above reproach, Satan will lead you into temptations that would disrupt your future well-being", the hospital administrator said.

Mr. Botwe complained about indecent dressing among the youth, especially the girls, adding, what more was disheartening and disgraceful was the increase in sexual promiscuity. He described prayer as communication between man and the creator and that when ever one decided to pray the person should focus all attention and mind to dialogue with God who will hear and respond accordingly. The hospital administrator called on religious leaders to offer good counseling and to encourage the youth to lead lives worthy of emulation. Mr. Thomas Adjapong, chairman of the diocesan youth fellowship stressed that prayer was a great weapon for every Christian and asked members of the church to pray unceasingly in all their undertakings. He urged them to be humble before God and to exhibit truth and faith in their prayers to gain mercies from God. The youth later prayed to God to shower His blessings on all drivers and passengers for an accident-free yuletide.
