Methodist University welcomes over 1000 students

The Methodist University College of Ghana (MUCG) on Saturday, held its 14th matriculation ceremony to officially welcome over 1000 students to the 2013/2014 academic year.

Out of the 2,414 applicants, the university college was able to admit 1,405 students including 136 foreigners from Nigeria, La Cote d’Ivoire and Equatorial Guinea.

Very Revered Professor S.K. Adjepong, Principal of MUCG, congratulated the freshers on gaining admission into the college to pursue various courses.

Prof. Adjepong urged the students to note that the matriculation oaths they had taken obliged them to obey the rules and regulations of the college throughout their stay.

He said the university college would create a congenial atmosphere that would enhance their academic activities, but added: “it is up to you to manage your time well and make the best use of the serene academic environment”.

He said the university college challenges, inspires, and supports students to grow intellectually, personally and spiritually to enable them not to only be an added value to their country, but excel as well.

Professor Adjepong urged the new students to learn to be critical thinkers for a successful life in the future.

Most Revered Professor E.K Asante, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Ghana, asked the fresh men and women to join hands with the school authorities to improve the image of the college and make it the centre of excellence in the sub-region.

He said MUCG was revising its curricula and expanding its academic programmes to offer vast opportunities to students.

He called on students and staff to maintain a high level of discipline. © 2013 Grammarly, Inc. Loading...
