Mechanised borehole should be sustained- Tontrong

Fiaso (B/A), Aug. 21, GNA - Mr. David Tontrong, Techiman Municipal Officer in-charge of Water and Sanitation, has called on the people of Fiaso and environs to help mobilize funds to sustain the mechanized borehole in the area. He suggested that the water be sold at a token price to consumers towards the sustainability of the facility provided by the Techiman Municipal Assembly.

Mr. Tontrong gave the suggestion in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, after a familiarization tour of the area by Mr. Alex Kyeremeh, Municipal Chief Executive. He advised the people not to politicize the provision of the water facility, since the Assembly's gesture was to ensure that the people enjoyed adequate water supply.

The facility, Mr. Tontrong said, was constructed by the Community Water and Sanitation Agency in collaboration with the Assembly. He appealed to the people to help keep the surroundings of the facility clean and asked them to regularly clear weeds in the area. Mr. Kyeremeh asked the people to maintain the facility well to prolong the lifespan and promised to ensure that the facility was extended to other parts of the district. He called for the sustenance of the cordial relationship between the traditional authorities, unit committees and the public to step up the socio-economic development of the municipality.
