Masters, students of Annor Adjei SHS waddle through muddy road to school

Ezinlibo (W/R), July 01, GNA-Persistent rainfall has rendered the three-kilometre road from the school to the main Half-Assini-Takoradi trunk road inaccessible.

The situation has compelled masters and students of the Annor-Adjei Senior High School at Ezinlibo, staying at five surrounding communities and other travellers to Ezinlibo to waddle through the muddy road before reaching their destinations. On reaching school the students and their masters had to look for water to wash their feet and legs before starting classes.

The Chief of Ezinlibo, Nana Kolora Blay 1V and the headmaster of the school, Mr Stephen Ansah made this known to newsmen at Ezinlibo. According to them, the other road from Bonyere junction to Bonyere town has also been rendered unmotorable, preventing the free flow of vehicles to Ezinlibo and Bonyere. Commercial activities have been affected, forcing people to carry their wares on their heads to transact business for the past two weeks.

They said on Wednesday, the people of Ezinlibo and some students of the school spent several hours to repair some damaged portions on the road but to no avail because the extent of the damage was beyond communal labour.

They therefore appealed to the Jomoro District Assembly to come to the aid of the people by rehabilitating the two roads to alleviate their suffering.

Conducting newsmen round the Ezinlibo town to assess the extent of damage caused by the floods, Tufuhene Boavo said six houses have been damaged, while a number of them have been threatened by soil erosion. He said the erosion has prevented movement of vehicles from one end to the other end of the town. 01 July 09
