The Manhyia Palace in Kumasi has issued a strong caution to the public, clarifying that no individual, group, or organisation has been authorised to solicit funds for the funeral of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
Speaking on behalf of the Palace, Otumfuo Ankobeahene Baffour Kwame Kusi II warned that anyone found collecting money under the pretense of supporting the funeral should be reported to the police for immediate arrest and prosecution.
In an interview on Otec FM’s morning show Nyansapo, hosted by Kwaku Owusu Boateng on Thursday, he stressed that the Palace has not sanctioned any such activity and considers it fraudulent.
Baffour Kwame Kusi II, who is also a member of the funeral planning committee, advised that individuals or groups wishing to support the funeral should formally contact the Manhyia Palace.
“This move aims to ensure that all donations and support are channeled through the proper authorities, maintaining transparency and accountability,” he explained.
The final funeral rites of the late Asantehemaa are scheduled for Monday, September 15, to Thursday, September 18, 2025.
The solemn event is expected to draw dignitaries, royals, and citizens from across the nation and beyond.
Nana Konadu Yiadom III reigned as Asantehemaa from 2017 until her passing in 2025 at the age of 98.
She was the biological sister of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and succeeded their mother, the late Nana Afia Serwaa Kobi Ampem II.
