Management of Takoradi Polytechnic donates to Foundation

Accra, March 8, GNA - The Management of Takoradi Polytechnic has presented a cheque of GH¢1,000 to the TV3 Rosebud Health Foundation. A statement issued and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, on Tuesday, said the presentation was a demonstration of the willingness of th= e Polytechnic to civil society engagements, geared towards addressing nascent social issues in the Western Region.

In addition, the Students' Representative Council of the Polytechnic presented GH¢500 cash towards procuring a Plasma Refrigerator for the Eff= ia Nkwanta Regional Hospital's blood bank. Earlier, management, staff and students of the Polytechnic had partnered TV3 Network, to embark on a health walk, aimed at raising awareness about emerging public health issues affecting human development, in the country.

The three-hour walk through the principal streets of Takoradi metropolis was to raise funds for indigents, who had in recent times depended on the benevolence of TV3, in meeting their medical bills. Reverend Professor Daniel A. Nyarko, Rector of the Polytechnic, presenting the amount and expressed his contentment about the collaboration between the two institutions geared towards solving the plight of ordinary people. "It is a good cause which the Polytechnic wants to be associated wit= h and I am pleading that other good citizens of this country would identify with the fund and give support to a good cause". Mr Santokh Singh, Chief Operating Officer of TV3, said Rosebud Health Foundation was aimed at raising funds to assist many people and health institutions as possible.

This is being undertaken through public education, on the need to seek early treatment when they feel unwell than to wait for the infirmity to degenerate into a life-threatening scare before attention is sought. Participating in the walk was the Omanhene of Essikado Traditional Area, Nana Kobina Nketsia V, Mr Syed Ahmad Zaidi, CEO of TV3, Mr Jones Addai-Marfo, Registrar of T-Poly, Mr Joseph O. Forson, Finance Officer and Mr Richard Nyarkoh, SRC President.
