A man has been shot dead by unknown assailants at Odomi, a farming community in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region.

Juliana Awasan, the Assembly member of the Keri Electoral Area confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in a phone interview.

She said the military and police command were immediately notified and they responded swiftly to retrieve the body.

A deep throat source in the community disclosed that the deceased was ambushed and shot on his farm while harvesting yam.

The incident highlights the growing insecurity concerns in the area and the authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.

The motive behind the attack is yet to be determined and the security agencies are working to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
