MTN donates computers to GNA Bolga

MTN Ghana, A leading telecommunications services provider on Wednesday honoured its pledge to support the regional offices of the Ghana News Agency with computers to help the agency in its information dissemination.

The Upper East Regional Office of the GNA received a desk top computer and a monitor during this year’s editors’ forum organized by MTN to update the media on its activities, achievements and plans.

Mrs Cynthia Lumor, Corporate Service Manager of MTN, who presented the computer to Mrs Fatima Astanga, a Senior Reporter at the GNA, said her outfit was committed to making continuous investments to meet the changing trends in technological advancement.

In an earlier address to the media, the Corporate Services Manager, outlined the new strategic focus of MTN and added that MTN was accelerating its network rollout for 2013 to accommodate its expansion plans and bring in more modern activities.

She said over 105 million Ghana Cedis is being spent in modernizing and expanding network services.

She enumerated challenges such as fiber cuts due to road construction, use of heavy duty excavators, activities of miners and thefts, which affects her outfit, leading to congestion, and appealed to the media and other stakeholders to propagate the message on the effects of these activities.

Mr Charles Akoto Osei, an official of the MTN Technical unit, revealed that, the Upper East Region would soon benefit from a 121 kilometer fiber link, to improve Radio Access Network (RAN) for over 60 cell sites.
