Akim Asafo Senior High School has received help from MTN Ghana Foundation to resolve the problem of large class sizes, classes under trees and the use of makeshift structures following the commissioning of a GH?289,000 project for the school.

The project includes a three-unit classroom block, a store, classroom furniture, white boards, an office and a staff common room.

The facility is expected to benefit over 1,470 students of Akim Asafo and its surrounding communities.

Commenting on the facility, Mr. Robert Kuzoe, Sustainability and Social Impact Senior Manager at MTN, said MTN Ghana Foundation agreed to support the school because it recognises the important role education plays in the development of individuals, society and the nation at large.

“It is important that as a nation, we create an environment that will help the youth develop their physical and mental abilities, and businesses have a role to play.”

He added that “this project is a demonstration of MTN Foundation’s continued interest in providing improved access to education.”

The Headmaster of the school, Mr. Isaac Osew Larbi expressed his gratitude to MTN Foundation for their support. He said the new classroom block would go a long way to help improve the academic performance of the students and the school as a whole.

Education is one of three focus areas of the MTN Ghana Foundation.

Since the establishment of the MTN Foundation in 2007, the organisation has invested in 75 educational projects across the country.
