MP supports water projects

Atuntuma (Ash), Aug 30, GNA - Mr Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Atwima-Mponua has provided GH=A250,000 (500 million cedis) from his share of the MP's common fund to some deprived communities to solve their water problems. The beneficiary communities are Atuntuma, New Achiase, Pakyi, Adupri, Betinko and Apenkro.

Mr Asiamah made this known at Atuntuma on Tuesday during a familiarization tour of the constituency.

Some of the communities visited included Betinko, New Achiase, Kwanfinfi, Ntobroso, Adiembra, Nkruma, Kofihiakrom and Afepaye. He said by December this year, 400 boreholes would be dug for the selected communities, whiles 30 other communities would also be connected to the national electricity grid.

Mr Emmanuel Oppong, Assemblyman for Atuntuma, complained to the MP about the illegal mining activities at Abore in the Amansie West District, which he said had led to the pollution of River Dwiri, the only source of drinking water in the area. He appealed for more cocoa spraying machines, as the four being used by the spraying gang was inadequate to cater for all the cocoa farmers in the area.
