MP presents building materials to constituents

Agona Nkwanta (W/R), Sept 29, GNA- Mr Samuel Jonfiah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ahanta West, at the weekend presented building materials worth over 80 million cedis to 37 communities in the constituency for the completion of self-initiated projects. Making the presentation at a meeting with representatives of the communities at Agona Nkwanta, he said the items were bought with his share of the MP's Common Fund and donations from well-wishers.

The items include 1,500 bags of cement, quantities of roofing sheets and iron rods are to be used for projects such as day care centres, toilets, computer centres and renovation of classrooms. Some of the communities that benefited from the package include Princess Town, Egyambra, New Amanful and Asemasa.

Mr Jonfiah said he has been able to assist about 85 per cent of the communities in the constituency with materials to execute their projects.

He said he has started distributing 240 litre bins to the communities as part of his effort to improve sanitation in the area and the first consignment worth nine million cedis would go to 10 communities.

Mr Jonfiah urged representatives of the communities to ensure that the items are used for the intended projects, and to organise people in their communities for communal labour to complete the projects. He said he has given financial assistance of over 40 million cedis to 65 students to pursue Senior Secondary School education.

He also appealed to Ahantas both home and abroad to contribute to the Ahantaman Development Fund to speed up the development of the area.
