MP inauguration 176 million cedis renovated school building

Accra, May 19, GNA - Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Deputy Minister-Designate for Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and NEPAD, on Friday inaugurated a renovated classroom block of the Methodist Basic Schools at Bortianor in the Greater Accra Region.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Information and National Orientation said the project was financed with the Deputy Minister's Member of Parliament share of the District Assemblies=92 Common Fund at a cost of .

It involved the reconstruction works, erection of pillars and re-roofing and was in fulfilment of a promise she made to the people of her Weija Constituency.

She said her number one priority was to raise the level of education in the constituency since 93education plays a key role in the development of an area and the nation as a whole".

Ms Botchwey commended the teachers for their commitment to teaching and learning.

She also pledged a personal computer to facilitate computer education and a scholarship to a class six pupil, Miss Regina Tetteh to enable her to complete her junior secondary school education.

The Deputy Minister called on the staff, pupils and the community to ensure that the building was properly maintained.

Mr Emmanuel Kwesi Ghann, Head Teacher of the School, thanked the MP for the renovation and appealed for a toilet and a Ga teacher for the school.

Ms Botchwey visited the Aplaku District Assembly Schools to interact with staff and pupils and promised to rehabilitate the Kindergarten block currently occupied by a junior secondary school class. 19 May 06
