MP for Sefwi-Akontombra supports media in Western North

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Sefwi -Akotombra in the Western North Region, Mr. Alex Tetteh has donated quantities of protective items to Media Houses in the Region to fight against the spread of COVID-19 in the area.

The items included, two boxes of alcohol-based hand sanitizers, face masks, and tissue papers for their daily use.

The beneficiary media houses were, Ghana News Agency, Liberty FM, Faith FM, De-beat FM, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation Sefwi Wiawso branch, and United Television among others.

The MP who doubles as the Western North Deputy Regional Minister, presenting the items at Sefwi Wiawso, said the gesture was to help protect journalists as frontline workers in the fight against the spread of the virus in the region.

He, tasked journalists in the region to use their various medium to educate the public in their respective areas to comply with the precautionary protocols such as wearing of face masks, keeping of physical distancing, and regular handwashing with soap under running water to protect them from contracting the virus.

Mr Charles Nkrumah, the Regional Information Director who received the items on behalf of the media fraternity, thanked the Minister and said the gesture would go a long way to motivate and assure the journalists of their safety against infections in their daily activities.

He gave the assurance that the media would do everything in their capacity to ensure effective public sensitization on the COVID-19 pandemic in the region.
