MP for Asunafo South receives best MP award

The Bureau of Research on Governance and Administration (BORGCA) has adjudged the MP for Asunafo South Hon Eric Opoku as the winner of the Pan African Enterprise and Achievers Honorary Award 2017 - Best MP for Communal and Rural Development .

In addition to the award BORGCA in partnership with the Confederation of Governance Assessment Institute (COGAI) has recommended Hon Eric Opoku to be awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree from the Ternopil State Economic University in Ukraine in May 2018.

Presenting the award to Hon Eric Opoku in Accra , Prof . Victor Yankah Executive Director of BORGCA said its findings indicated that Hon Eric Opoku has over the years championed development in the constituency on non partisan basis with respect to provision of electricity, water , roads , health and education facilities in communities within the constituency and is also always in touch with his constituents.

Prof Victor Yankah advised Members of Parliament to be non partisan and make the wellbeing of their constituents their major concern.

The Communication Strategist of the Bureau of Research on Governance and Administration Mr Isaac Rockson said other Members of Parliament who have won similar awards from BORGCA in 2016 include Hon Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu current Majority Leader and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Hon Collins Dauda MP for Asutifi South and former Minister of Local Government and Rural Development.

Mr Rockson said BORGCA will soon come out with its findings on Members of Parliament who are not performing well in the country . This according to Mr Isaac Rockson, will make such MPs sit up and work hard to promote the development of their constituencies and the country in general .

Receiving the Award Hon Eric Opoku said he feels highly honoured and motivated to receive the award and said the development of his constituents and the people of Ghana generally, is his main concern as MP.
