MP appeals for the replacement of a faulty transformer

Kintampo (B/A), Oct. 9, GNA- Mr. Stephen Kunsu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Kintampo North Constituency has appealed to the Minister of Energy to help replace a faulty transformer at Sawaba, near Kintampo to restore electricity to the area.

Mr. Kunsu told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Kintampo that management of the district Volta River Authority said the old transformer, which blasted two months ago was beyond repairs. He said the problem was affecting the people as they depended on electricity to grind their cereals for meals. Mr. Kunsu noted that some unscrupulous people had taken advantage of the situation to indulge in robbery and other thefts. He said some communities in the constituency had been provided with transformers since 2000, but had not been connected to the national electricity grid and urged government to consider the plight of the people and assist them.

The MP mentioned communities like Dawadwa number one and two, Kawampe, Gurumpe, Portor, Kadelso and Abodwese as places that had no access to electricity.

On development projects in the constituency, Mr. Kunsu said he was spending more than GHC15,000 (150 million cedis) towards the graveling of three major roads in the Kintampo Township.

He said he had provided 50 footballs and jerseys to football clubs in the area as well as 80 spraying machines to some farmers. Mr Kunsu commended the Catholic Church in the area for assisting in the construction of a bridge over the Oyoko River near Gomboi on the New Logoro-Kintampo trunk road, adding that, he intends to support the project with GHC 2,400 (24 million cedis) to compliment the efforts of the church.
