MCE appeals to Muslim parents to enrol their children in school

Akyem Oda, Aug. 25, GNA - Ms Ophelia Koomson, the Birim Central Municipal Chief Executive, on Wednesday appealed to Muslim parents to take advantage of the government's intervention in education to enrol their children in school.

She said free exercise books, school uniforms and the capitation grant were aimed at helping to reduce the burden of parents.

Ms Koomson said this when she presented bags of sugar and rice to the Muslim community at Akyem Oda Old Town Zongo on behalf of the Municipal Assembly towards the Ramadan.

She appealed to parents to desist from using their resources on unproductive activities and invest in the education of their children.

Ms Koomson appealed to the Muslim community to take active part in communal labour and to ensure sound environmental practices.

The Chief Imam, Alhaji Sulemana Mohammed, expressed gratitude for the donation.
