The Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly has qualified for the 2024 District Performance Assessment Tool (DPAT) grant, securing over GH¢10 million to fund infrastructure and capacity-building projects.

Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) John Atteh Matey announced the milestone during the Third Ordinary Meeting of the Second Session of the Eighth Assembly on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Odumase-Krobo.

He said the qualification underscores the Assembly’s strong performance in governance, financial management, and service delivery.

“This achievement is a testament to our hard work, accountability and dedication,” Matey said. “We have been allocated GH¢10,001,414 to undertake development projects and build the capacity of our staff to deliver better services.”

He noted that only 21 out of the 33 Assemblies in the Eastern Region qualified for the performance-based grant and urged members to remain committed to their duties to sustain future eligibility.

“I don’t want it said that during my tenure, Lower Manya Krobo failed DPAT,” he stressed. “Active participation in Assembly meetings and strict adherence to good governance principles are key to maintaining our progress.”

The DPAT grant adds to several ongoing initiatives aimed at improving health, trade, and local infrastructure in the municipality.

Two major projects—the Tsledom CHPS Compound and the Kpong Fish Market—were commissioned this week to enhance access to healthcare and improve trading conditions. The CHPS facility was constructed in partnership with the Japanese Embassy, while the fish market was funded by the Volta River Authority (VRA).

The Assembly Chief said the Assembly was also preparing to start work on a modern 24-hour market at Kpong under the government’s 24-hour economy initiative. The market will include a police post, fire station, crèche, and other facilities to support round-the-clock business operations.

The MCE commended the Global Fund for donating 40 motorbikes each to the three Krobo districts to improve community healthcare delivery. He also praised the Member of Parliament for the area, Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, for supporting 250 Senior High School students with cash and supplies.

On road infrastructure, Matey assured residents that the Assembly was collaborating with the Yilo Krobo Assembly to maintain the Somanya–Kpong road while awaiting full reconstruction by central government.

He concluded that the DPAT qualification reflects the Assembly’s commitment to transparent governance and effective service delivery.

“Our qualification is proof that Lower Manya Krobo is on the right path,” he stressed. “We’ll continue to build a municipality that works for everyone.”
