Lotto receivers appeal to DNL

Tamale, Feb. 18, GNA - The Northern Region branch of the National Lotto Receivers' Union has appealed to the Management of the Department of National Lotteries (DNL) to come out with a policy to assist Lotto Receivers access bank loans.

It said this would enable them improve on their operations and generate more income for the department.

Mr. James Owusu, Chairman of the Union made the appeal during elections for new executives of the Union in Tamale. He pointed out that repayment of the loans could be deducted at source from their commissions.

Mr Owusu said: "It is pathetic to note that bank managers regard operations of lotto receivers' as part-time business and therefore; not willing to grant them loans." The Chairman called on DNL to decentralise its operations in the Upper East and West Regions to reach out to more people in the districts. "As at now lotto winners in the two regions have to travel to Tamale for payment with its risks," He said. Mr. Owusu who retained his position as Chairman appealed to DNL to assist lotto receivers to build their capacity to enhance their operations and encouraged more people to patronise their services. Mr Winfred Kwashie Amewuzah, Northern Regional Accountant of DNL who supervised the elections, called on the executives to work hard to enhance operations of the union and the department.
