Lotto agents in court for forgery

Sekondi, Dec 2, GNA- Three persons appeared before a Sekondi Circuit court on Tuesday for allegedly forging winning numbers on some blank lotto tickets valued at 14.8 million cedis.

They all pleaded not guilty to forgery, attempting to steal and stealing and would re-appear on December 16.

They are Emmanuel Odiden, 36, driver, John Ensonyameye, 35, a checker and John Nipa, 35, a farmer.

Police Inspector Kumah Mensah told the court that the accused persons were workers of the "O6" Lotto Company.

The prosecutor said an informant hinted the complainant, Mr. John Mensah, Managing Director of the Company, that the three accused persons were presenting falsified lotto tickets to collect prizes.

The complainant therefore started his own investigations and on Nov 23, when the group brought some returns, he detected that the receipts for some tickets with face value of 14.8 million cedis were forged.

When he questioned them, they confessed to committing the offence.
