Lions Club introduced in Techiman

Techiman (B/A), Oct. 14, GNA - Dr Verlolia Tonugble of Accra Golden Lions Club, has underscored the importance of better partnership between Lion clubs in the overall approach to voluntary services. Dr Tonugble, a Medical Officer at the Cocoa Clinic in Accra, said this at the introduction of lionism to prospective members at Techiman in Brong Ahafo. The meeting was to educate prospective members on lionism, which seeks to offer service to humanity through assistance to the disabled and the needy.

Dr Tonguble said the spirit of lionism reflected deep family values and formed the foundation in answering human needs. To ensure the seriousness of the lions club in the development of the district, more women must be given the option to serve in a manner that best meets their needs, she said. Mr Ben Anim-Mensah, Pharmacist at the Kumasi Royal Club asked prospective members of the Lions club at Techiman to take every opportunity to involve young people in voluntary services and programmes for the community.

Nana Asa Ackompanin, Krobohene and Kyidomhene of the Techiman Traditional Area lauded the formation of the club in the district, noting that it would go a long way to support the needy in rural communities.
