LeadAfrique, Coca Cola hold Teacher Transformation Programme in Tema West

LeadAfrique international, a Non Governmental Organisation in unique partnership with the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry who doubles as Member of Parliament for Tema West constituency, Honourable Carlos Kinsley Ahenkorah, and the Coca Cola bottling company limited, have put together a teacher transformation programme aimed at building the person of teachers within the Tema-west constituency beyond their professions by equipping them with skills on achieving set goals and financial management among other skills needed by the 21st century teacher.

The Teacher Transformation Programme which runs from 5th, 8th and 15th of February, 2019 will impart 286 teachers directly and over 5,000 students whose paths will be made clearer with the help of their teachers.

The 3-day programme which opened on Tuesday, February 5, at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church Parish Hall was attended by the Member of Parliament for Tema-west, Hon. Kingsley Carlos, municipal director of education, Mrs. Margaret Nsiah Asamoah - Education, Municipal Chief Executive of Tema-west west, Mrs. Adwoa Amoako as well as a representative of the General Manager of the Coca Cola Bottling Company, Mr. Bethel Yeboah among others.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Co-founder of LeadAfrique International, Mr. Michael Ohene-Effah noted that every individual aside their profession have certain skills and talents that need to be nurtured for the good of society.

He added that people of this era must be willing to move from their comfort zones to areas that are more challenging.

“The illiterate of the future would not be those who cannot read and write, but those who can learn, unlearn and relearn,” he reiterated.



Mr. Ohene said he is convinced that the training for teachers of Tema West Municipal, will go a long way to change the educational trajectory of the nation and inch the nation closer to prepare the youth for the 21st-century global economy.

For his part, the Member of Parliament for Tema West constituency and Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Carlos Kingsely Ahenkorah expressed his appreciation to the Coca-cola bottling company Ltd. for supporting the project and to LeadAfrique International for the initiative.



Corporate Affairs Manager of the Coca-cola bottling company Ltd, Mr. Bethel Yeboah noted that “as part of the company’s commitment to the development of skills and the human capital for the country, Coca-Cola Systems have for some years now actively undertaken and sponsored initiatives that supported programs for youth development across the country”.

This, he noted include the implementation of the Discovery Channel Global Education Program in 20 schools in Greater Accra and Kumasi, built a 6 unit classroom block in Guunayili, Northern Region and a 6 classroom block with toilet facilities, water storage and a teachers meeting room in Abuti-Teti in the Volta Region among others. He emphasized that his company will continue to support the state in all ways possible in the development agenda.



According to LeadAfrique International, it is estimated that the average Ghanaian teacher has 30 students in his care and at every point in time, the teacher serves as a role model amidst other things. The organization focuses on what it describes as the analogy of a blind man leading another blind man into a ditch.

Thereby equipping teachers with the necessary skills to impact positively on the lives of students. Since its inception in 2014, LeadAfrique International has trained over 2000 teachers through the Teacher Transformation Programme.
