Land developers asked to desist from encroaching government lands

Ofankor, April 12, GNA - The Chairman of the Ofankor Town Development and Social Services, Captain D.K Botchway (rtd) at the weekend advised land developers to desist from encroaching government lands in the area.

He said apart from the practice, people were building on waterways thereby posing danger to lives and property.

Capt. Botchway made these remarks when he conducted some Unit Committee Members of Ofankor round unauthorised structures including chop bars and drinking spots on the Ofankor Junior Secondary School(JSS) and Primary School lands.

Mr Ankamah Appiah Tetteh, chairman of the Unit Committee, said even though the Ga District Assembly had requested owners of the structures to remove them, the order was ignored.

He said the Amasaman District Assembly Task Force demolished unauthorised structures in the area, it could not solve the problem and appealed to the authorities to resume operations, especially on school lands.

Mr Tetteh also expressed worry that some schools in the area had been turned into centres for wee smoking and other social vices.
