Lack of Facilities Hinders Development At Juaso - Dce

THE DISTRICT Chief Executive (DCE) for Asante Akyem South District of Ashanti, Dr. Gyamfi Fintin, has called on the government to address the problem of basic facility services which is lacking in the district.

Stressing his point, he said there is absence of good drinking water, telecommunication facilities and security protection in the district.

The DCE made the call at a durbar in honour of a 3rd District Day organiserd by the Centre for National Culture (CNC) as part of its 50th anniversary celebration in Kumasi.

The districts are Bosomtwe Atwima kwanwoma, New Adubease and Asante Akyem South.

Dr. Fintin noted that the absence of these social amenities in the district has made it difficult for some development projects to be undertaken in the area.

He described as unfortunate the fact that the situation has engaged most of the youth in rural-urban migration in order to have access to social amenities as well as to find greener pastures to the neglect of the rural areas which needed the youth most.

According to him, a district without a total access to basic amenities hardly develops and appealed to the government to attend to the situation in time to ensure the proper development to enhance the welfare of the people.

Dr. Fintin hinted that the Asante Akyem South district has taken up the initiative to award scholarship to girls as means of promoting girl-child education in the district.

Hon. Maxwell Kofi Jumah, member of the Planning Committee and the Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, said the objective of the anniversary is to portray and promote the culture of Ashantis.

The MCE urged DCEs and chiefs to ensure discipline in the various districts and communities as well as enticing the people to hold their culture in high esteem.

Nana Owusu Asiamah II, Paramount Chief of Obogu, stressed the need for DCEs to be transparent and accountable in all their activities.
