Kwasi Komfo School wants new site

The Municipal Assembly School at Kwasi Komfo in the East Akim Municipality, wants to be relocated to a new site, to help enhance teaching and learning.

Mr. Gawi Mawuko, a primary four teacher of the school, said the school which has a JHS, primary and a kindergarten with a population of 206, is presently located in the centre of the town.

He spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Kwasi Komfo, when the head teacher and his assistant were said to have travelled to the Ghana Education Office at Kibi.

According to him, the small farming community had grown and therefore, extended to cover the school, which is also surrounded by a market and a public park, creating noise and interrupting teaching and learning.

Mr. Mawuko said the park had been extended to the corridors of the classrooms, adding that, if the situation was not checked, there was no way the falling standard of education in the area could be improved.

The teacher therefore, appealed to the Odikro (chief) of Kwasi Komfo, landowners, the PTA of the school, the municipal assembly and the Ghana Education Service, to as a matter of urgency, release lands for the authorities to build a modern school block for the school.

Mr. Mawuko said the school block, built years back had not seen any serious rehabilitation and that a new one would help provide a congenial atmosphere for teaching and learning.
