Kwamoso Assembly woman appeals for more schools

Kwamoso (E/R), April 16, GNA - The Assembly woman for Kwamoso Electoral Area, Ms Elizabeth Afrey, has appealed for additional school blocks for the Kwamoso Presbyterian Junior High School (JHS) to help end the shift system. She explained that, as a farming area, more often than not, pupils, who were in the afternoon shift reported to school tired, after helping their parents on the farms in the morning, which does not promote effective teaching and learning in the school. Ms Afrey made the appeal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Kwamoso, on Friday. She said the roof of the Presbyterian Primary School block was old and leaking.

She said anytime it rains, school had to close and appealed to Non-Governmental Organizations and old students of the school to support the rehabilitation of the school. The Assembly woman said the Kwamoso clinic also needs male and female wards, with facilities to stabilize the conditions of people involved in emergency cases before referring them to bigger hospitals. She said because the clinic lacked a ward, women who deliver there were made to go home the same day, which according to her, was not the best for the health of both the mother and child. Ms Afrey said she intends to seek support to provide the people of Yensosu, on the Mamfe Koforidua road, with a KVIP to help improve sanitation in the community. 16 April 11
