Kwahu West Municipal assembly confirms President's nominee

Nkawkaw, May 9, GNA - Members of the Kwahu West Municipal Assembly on Thursday voted massively to confirm Mr. Emmanuel Boansi Darkwa, the president's nominee as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) at an emergency meeting of the assembly at Nkawkaw.

All the 25 assembly members present, voted in favour of Mr Boansi-Darkwa, a former Presiding Member of the assembly. At the same sitting, the assembly elected Mr. Agyenim Boateng, a Graduate Teacher and Assembly member for Kwahu Jamaase as the presiding member of the assembly. In an election, supervised by the Eastern Regional Electoral officer, Mr Paul Boateng also obtained 100 percent vote when all the assembly members voted for.

Mr Boansi Darkwa, in an address thanked the President and the Assembly for the confidence reposed in him and called for co-operation and support from the members, chiefs and heads of departments to implement more development projects for the area. He said, he would run an open administration and called for suggestions and constructive criticism and assist revenue collectors to mobilize adequate revenue to finance more development projects in the communities.

Mr. Boansi Darkwa noted that with his vast experience as a former presiding member and finance and administration sub-committee chairman for the past eight years he would implement all government and the assembly's projects and programmes to move the municipality forward. Mr Kwadwo Afram Asiedu, Eastern Regional Minister, in an address commended the assembly members for their massive vote for the MCE and the Presiding Member and urged them to maintain the needed support and co-operation to ensure rapid development of the assembly. He said the government, as "a listening one" had created two new districts in the area as well as raising the Kwahu West District to a Municipal status to enhance the socio-economic development of Nkawkaw and its environs.

Mr. Afram Asiedu advised the Chief Executive to respect and co-operate with the assembly members, chiefs and MPs to undertake meaningful development projects to enhance the living standard of the people. Mr Boansi Darkwa and Mr Agyenim Boating were later sworn into office by the Nkawkaw High Court Judge, Mr Justice kweku Adu-Gyamfi.
